AFRISA, the Africa Institute for Strategic Animal Resource Services and Development, is an autonomous agency of Makerere University and her local and international partners. With a corporate approach, the Not-For-Profit organization is powered by innovative partnerships for positive societal change
We aim to equip a generation of people to face the extraordinary challenges of the centuries to come. We particularly target the young people, and creating employment, nurturing value addition and improved production systems is our inherent passion.
The AFRISA approach is a fundamental paradigm shift from the classical “Ivory Tower” model to the ACP3 (Academic-Community-Public-Private Partnership) model of capacity building and societal transformation, with transformative skills, science, technology and innovation as primary pillars. Thus, AFRISA is a 21st century premier design for taking Universities to the communities in Africa.
